Our Beginnings

Rides for Relief has been a key force in supporting women’s shelters in Calgary and Airdire. Initially hosted under the Moms For Real umbrella, a grassroots organization founded by two Alberta women, Tracy and Keri, Rides for Relief raised over $16,500 through 3 car show fundraisers. Moms For Real began in 2014 as a way to nourish families with real food and promote self-care, but quickly expanded to support vulnerable women and families, culminating in Rides for Relief’s success.

However, these large-scale car shows are not as feasible, initially due to COVID-19, then life changes, and location challenges. Tracy has stepped into focusing on her incredible business, The Cunning Folk Pagan Emporium in Didsbury and is supporting her local community. Keri is working in the tourism marketing space at Travel Drumheller and continuing her passion for empowering women through True North Pinup Magazine. Keri has been hard at work hosting large pin up contests like Calgary AutoValue World of Wheels and Queen of the Badlands, helping Valley Cruisers coordinate the annual car show in Drumheller, collaborating with photographers, and creating this new chapter: Heels & Hearts Initiative.

Domestic violence is a deeply personal cause for us. We’ve witnessed its effects on families and know how essential it is to provide safe spaces and support. Although large car shows are more difficult, the Heels & Hearts Initiative allows us to continue advocating for the most vulnerable in our communities.

Make a difference by supporting the Heels & Hearts Initiative! Purchase our magazines, donate, or attend our fundraising events to help provide vital resources for women and families in need.

2020 Rides for Relief

Oh 2020 and the challenges you brought! We still had an incredibly successful online pin up contest and rockabilly concert, where we raised $10,575 for the Airdrie P.O.W.E.R. Women’s Shelter. Thank you so much to all of our sponsors, the bands, the babes and mostly you, the ones who supported our fun little online fundraiser. We can’t thank you enough!

All of the photos in our gallery were graciously taken by Kaela Joelle of Cheesecake Dolls Photography & Shutter+Flash, without her hard work with this event we wouldn’t have the memories to celebrate! Kaela, thank you for all of your support and hard work, we couldn’t have achieved this without you.
